Among the six names appearing on the ballot for Carol Stream Elementary District 93 school board, four will be elected, and we endorse incumbents Vincent Ackerman and Richard Boyer and newcomers Sonal Amin and Scott Stone. In his two years on the board, Ackerman has emerged as a leader and is part of the negotiating team for a new teachers contract. In his 20 years, Boyer has been a needed voice for less generous, merit-based contracts, but also a strong supporter of spending on programs that will help students. Amin and Stone are active parents in the system, bringing personal experiences with ethnic diversity and special needs respectively that are assets. Amin knew less about the job's intricacies but is learning. Among the remaining two, candidate James Varey said he is moving out of the district and is no longer seeking the post and candidate Christopher Wagoner didn't respond to our questionnaire or attend the endorsement interview meeting.
