Endorsements: Loeffler, Plummer, Vogt for Diamond Lake District 76 board
Diamond Lake Elementary District 76 is a district in transition. Like many school districts in our region, it has weathered the weak economy and made necessary cuts to get its finances under control. Now, it is looking to address the future educational needs of its students. A big step will be improving technology as part of a three- to five-year plan. Four capable candidates, including three incumbents, are seeking three 4-year seats in the April 9 election. Board veteran Keith Loeffler is an easy choice, and we strongly endorse him. A chief financial officer, Loeffler has been board president for the last four years. His continued financial guidance will be needed. We also endorse newcomer Adam Plummer, who is a technology consultant. His background and experience will provide valuable insight as the district addresses technology needs. Our third endorsement goes to incumbent Laura Vogt, a former teacher. She is also the mother of three children in district schools and an active volunteer, and brings an important perspective to the board. Incumbent Beverly Barton Seavers, a retired teacher, is the fourth candidate. Seavers has played an important role in community relations and outreach and we encourage her to continue helping the district in this capacity.
