Maybe it is time we who have lived in Naperville all our lives speak up. When I was growing up and attending Ellsworth School, the population of Naperville was 5,280. We have witnessed the growth over the past 60 years from a small farming town to a high tech city with a population of over 142,000. With that growth changes have come, mostly for the best.
The elected ďat largeĒ city council has done a fine job of maintaining the treasures that make Naperville unique from other suburban communities. We have developed from Centennial Beach, the River Walk, Rotary Hill, Naper Settlement and kept the band concerts in Central Park with the addition of a new concert center in 2003. These are the things that keep Naperville special. They were developed with the blessing of a city council elected ďat large.Ē
If it ainít broke, donít fix it. Lets keep our representative council responsible to all of us, not just a certain ward.
