Chicago officer shoots man carrying assault weapon
A Chicago police officer responding to a domestic dispute call has shot and killed a man who confronted officers with an automatic assault weapon.
A police statement says the man emerged from a room and pointed the weapon at the officers inside an apartment building on the city’s West Side.
The officers were let inside the apartment early Thursday morning by a woman who warned them that the man was inside and armed with a gun.
None of the officers was injured.
Police say they recovered two weapons at the scene.
The shooting is being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority.
