Don’t miss a hot time at Spring Valley.
Schaumburg Park District will offer a unique opportunity to learn about and observe a prairie burn from 6 to 8:30 p.m., April 6 at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, during the Sunset Fire and Picnic on the Prairie.
The evening will begin with a picnic behind the Nature Center. Participants may bring their own food or purchase grilled food and beverages at the event. During the picnic, staff will explain why fire is so beneficial to the health of natural areas and demonstrate how it is used safely to manage these areas. Trained staff will then conduct a sunset burn of a portion of Spring Valley’s prairie, which participants can view from a safe distance.
The admission fee is $3 per person or $12 per family of six. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The rain date for the program is April 13.
