Emmett's Beer 101
Listen to the man, the myth, the brewer give a history about Emmett's beers and brewery, as well as the history of beer itself, at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Emmett's in Downers Grove. The day includes samples of Emmett's brews and 10 guest beers. $32 per person includes beer tasting and a souvenir glass.

Tuesday tastings
Tuesday tastes pretty good at Bakersfield with special drink and appetizer pairings from 5 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday in March. Try signature wines on March 12, craft beers with Revolution Brewing March 19, and Tenzing Wine and Spirits on March 26. $10 per person, no reservations required.

St. Patty's pre-party
Get primed for St. Patrick's Day at Pub 222 in St. Charles, where the party spreads into an outdoor heated tent the entire week before the big day. Daily drink specials include $2 domestic drafts on Mondays, $4 well drinks on Tuesdays, $4 Jack Daniels and 3 Olives mixers and $4.50 premium drafts on Wednesdays, $2.50 domestic bottles on Thursdays, $5.50 Red Bull bombs on Fridays, $5 Long Island ice teas on Saturdays, and $4.50 mimosas and bloody marys on Sundays.
