Prospect show choir sweeps Wisconsin invitational

Prospect High School’s show choirs traveled to Brodhead, Wis., to compete in their first show choir invitational of 2013 on Saturday, Feb. 23, where they wowed the judges and audience with their performances.

At Brodhead High School’s “In the Spotlight” competition, Prospect’s Mixed Company, a group of 43 young men and women directed by Jennifer Troiano, was named Grand Champion in the mixed division. The all-female group, Company, directed by Steven Colella, also captured the Grand Champion title in the unisex division.

Prospect’s Combo, which accompanies both Mixed Company and Company and is directed by Mitch Johnson, kept the winning trend going by being named Best Combo at the event.

Mixed Company also captured the award for Best Choreography, and Prospect senior Franco Longobardi was named Best Male Vocalist.

Participants found the event to be “an emotional, wonderful experience,” according to Prospect parent Ron Godby.

Mixed Company followed that up March 2 with a second runner-up finish at the highly competitive Chicagoland Showcase competition held at John Hersey High School.
