A sophomore soccer player from Mundelein High School who had been missing since Sunday night was found Monday evening by the Chicago Police Department.
Sandra Scedrina and Danas Scedrinas dropped off their daughter at 6:11 p.m. Sunday outside of the Physical Education Building on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, where she had practiced soccer the past four Sundays.
Surveillance cameras show Paulina Scedrinaite, 16, entering the building and later exiting alone through a back door.
Nobody had heard from her until Chicago police spotted her downtown Monday evening. She appeared to physically be fine and no foul play was suspected, said officer Daniel O’Brien.
UIC officials worked with Chicago police to help locate Scedrinaite.
“Our police are working with the Chicago police to search for this girl,” said Mark Rosati, UIC’s associate chancellor for public affairs. “Our video showed that she entered in one entrance and then almost immediately exited through another exit.”
Paulina did not have her cellphone or any other electronics with her, her mother said.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
