Submitted by Geneva Chamber of Commerce

Registration has begun for the Granquist Music Competition, the largest music competition in the state of Illinois.

This year’s event will be Saturday, June 22, at Geneva Community High School, 416 McKinley Ave. Teachers are encouraged to enroll students as early as possible. Online applications must be received by Friday, May 24, and mailed applications must be postmarked by Monday, May 20.

This is the 43rd year of the competition established in 1970 by music educator Herb Granquist. The Granquist family is the coordinator of the competition. All contestants will be classified by instrument, age and years of instruction. A first, second and third place is awarded in each class. Solos, duets and ensembles are all encouraged to register. There are two levels of competition — Olympic and Concert.
