A spaghetti dinner benefit for Chris Becker will be held on Sunday, March 10. It will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran School, 300 S. Pathway Court, Crystal Lake. It is located behind the Jewel and Hobby Lobby. There is no charge, only a free will offering.
The benefit will help with medical bills, home bills, food, and gas. The 35-year-old McHenry resident was diagnosed almost 4 years ago with adult-onset Stills Disease. In May 2011, after experiencing severe back and hip pain, he went to many doctors and many tests but nothing really popped up. He was getting worse and a lot stiffer. He was tired often. After going to the ER 13 times, being hospitalized 24 days, numerous different doctors, and two weeks at the Mayo Clinic, he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis with arthritis, sphincter of oddi dysfunction, fibromyalgia, IBS, degenerative disc and spine disease, chronic pain and fatigue, anxiety/depression. He will need to go to Indiana University for a surgery for one of his rare diseases in the near future and continue seeing doctors and having procedures/tests. He will begin using Rush University Medical Center. He uses a cane to get around, a shower chair, and a hospital bed at home. The doctors said he will never be able to work again. He resigned from his company that he worked for more than 10 years. He applied for Social Security disability but was recently denied and will have to wait a year to be seen in front of a judge. The couple's 7-year-old son also has sensory processing disorder. He has been treating it and continues therapy 2 times per week.Copyright © 2014 Paddock Publications, Inc. All rights reserved.
