Goulet, 35, a recently fired coffee shop barista with a criminal history, opened fire on two Santa Cruz police detectives Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, when they came to his house to investigate a sexual assault complaint from a female co-worker. Sgt. Loran Butch Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler were shot and killed outside the home of Goulet, who fled and later died in a shootout with police.
