Key Issue 1
Establish transparency to make township government understandable and accessible to all
Key Issue 2
Promote technology to streamline township government
Key Issue 3
Broaden representation on the board to reflect the community
Name the three most important goals or objectives this board should tackle in the coming term. Prioritize them, and briefly discuss why you believe each to be critical, and how the board should go about addressing them.
?Base line budgeting with zero budget growth and property tax increases.Continue to provide excellent services to Milton Township constituents.Explore alternatives to generate more funding for road maintenance and reconstruction.
In the 21st Century, with municipalities gobbling up vacant land, why are townships needed? Should they be serving a new role? If so, what?
The unincorporated areas of Milton Township are extensive and served by various portions of Milton Township government at a reasonable tax cost for the services provided. In addition, many of the functions of township government such as property assessment, general assistance and numerous committee functions are provided township-wide with no distinction between the incorporated and unincorporated areas.
What should be the primary responsibility of township government?
Provide services to meet the needs of the local community. Provide budgetary regulation of tax dollars and provide tax assessment on property, also maintain roads.
In these hard economic times, can you identify some township expenses/programs that could be trimmed or eliminated to reduce the tax burden?
While any organization can cut or eliminate just about any cost item, the question should be asked at what price. They have had fund surpluses but have not looked for ways to reduce the tax burden. As an Accountant I will review the budget and come up with a comprehensive plan to reduce the tax burden.
What specific background or experience do you bring that makes you the best qualified candidate to serve as an elected official in the township?
I believe I am the best candidate because I am a true outsider. As stated by NACPACWilliam Adams is running a campaign completely independent from party officials. While some candidates campaign on an outsider platform, Adams is truly an independent candidate.? I can be the voice of reason for the community without having to worry about party politics.
