How big a role do you think the board of education should play in setting the curriculum for students and what ideas do you have for changes to the current curriculum?The Board of Education relies on the Curriculum Adminstrative staff for recommendations. The Curriculum staff are respected professionals in their fields and are extremely capable of providing the Board with the best fits for our District.How satisfied are you that your district is preparing students for the next stage in their lives, whether it be from elementary into high school or high school into college or full-time employment? What changes, if any, do you think need to be made?I am extremely satisfied with the School Districts ability to prepare the students of District 15 for high school. The district currently parcticpates on a committee with District 87 and the other feeder districts to better prepare our students for their high school years.What budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax increases?Currently District 15 is not experiencing any budget issues.As contract talks come up with various school employee groups, do you believe the district should ask for concessions from its employees, expect employee costs to stay about the same as they are now or provide increases in pay or benefits?Our School District, along with the MEA, have been able to reach agreements that have been beneficial to both the School District and the employees. At this time I would expect costs to stay about the same as we are at the begining of a new agreement.If your district had a superintendent or other administrator nearing retirement, would you support a substantial increase in his or her pay to help boost pension benefits? Why or why not?As a District we try to provide similar benefits to our adminstrators as those in our negotiated agreement for consistancy purposes.
