Two cultural programs highlighting foods of the world and the sites of The Land Down Under are coming this month to the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg.
All ages are invited to celebrate the cultural diversity of Schaumburg Township by tasting a variety of foods at the annual “Ethnic Food Fest” from 2-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 in the library’s Adult Classroom and Rasmussen Room. For a minimal fee of $2 per adult and $1 per child (collected at the door), participants may sample ethnic dishes generously donated by local restaurants and delis. The food will be served by students from local high school cultural clubs. Attendance is limited. All proceeds will be given to the participating high school clubs.
The breathtaking beauty and fascinating culture of Australia will be highlighted in “Waltzing Australia” from 7:30-9 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25 in the Rasmussen South Room. From sophisticated cities to the rugged outback and Great Barrier Reef, the Land Down Under offers a kaleidoscope of memorable experiences. Writer-photographer Cynthia Clampitt shares her six-month journey with this colorful slide presentation. Signed copies of her award-winning book, Waltzing Australia, will be available for purchase. Registration is required. Register by calling (847) 923-3347.
