Fashion works for Uptown
Working hard at something you're passionate about brings with it a sense of accomplishment. In much the same way, those passionate about Chicago Uptown Ministry are making fashion work for them at the 2013 Chicago Uptown Ministry Luncheon and Fashion Show. This annual fundraiser, hosted by Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois (LCFS), takes place Saturday, March 9 at Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove Village. What's accomplished with the monies raised is the continued delivery of services in a Chicago community where they are in constant demand.
The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with a boutique and social hour, followed at 12:30 p.m. by lunch, a raffle and the fashion show. Items being raffled off include fine dining experiences and tickets to sporting events, comedy shows and museums. There's also the exciting grand prize raffle drawing for a trip with four nights of accommodations at a Hyatt Place U.S. location (including Las Vegas, Orlando and Scottsdale) and round-trip airfare for two.
Chicago Uptown Ministry serves those in need in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood by providing them with a sense of self sufficiency, hope and justice. Services include:
• Food pantry
• Ways to Work
• Clinical counseling
• After school/summer programs
• English as a Second Language classes
• Parish nursing
• Alcoholics Anonymous meetings
• Help navigating the greater social service network and other systems like the public schools, legal, immigration and public health
After a long winter, the fashion show is a great opportunity to welcome the coming spring with a day of fun. Seats are still available and there's also an opportunity for your group to reserve a table for ten (10) fashion-forward friends.
