Wauconda Chamber of Commerce EXPO opens Feb. 23

The 10th Annual Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce Business and Community EXPO returns to Wauconda High School on Saturday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24.

The themed event, “Rolling Through the Decades,” jump-starts the chamber’s 60th year, and will showcase more than 60 area business and municipal booths, plus several area clubs and organizations.

Coinciding with EXPO is the 7th Annual American Legion Post 911 Craft Show with more than 40 participants.

On Saturday, Feb. 23, the EXPO is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Sunday, Feb. 24, the EXPO runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event, co-sponsored by Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Daily Herald Media Group, Ray Auto Group, The Peppler Group and RE/MAX — Pattie Palzet-Taylor, is free to all visitors.

Saturday’s EXPO and Craft Show is the start of an exciting weekend of special events, entertainment, prize drawings, and food booths from the Wauconda High School Boosters and the Wauconda Moose Lodge #1969.

EXPO booths will be located in the large gym and main hallway, while the craft show will be presented in the cafeteria. A detailed map listing all participants will be handed out to visitors, along with a guide to Wauconda’s lineup of 2013 events hosted by the chamber, park district and village.

Saturday will spotlight the Northern Illinois Mad Science Show, along with a St. Baldrick’s head-shaving fundraiser and local musician Jeff Trudell. The Island Lake Post Office will assist citizens with U.S. Passport registration (visit www.travel.state.gov for important passport application regulations).

On Sunday, EXPO guests will be treated to a three-peat visit by Dave’s Traveling World of Reptiles, featuring an up-close, live, and extremely interactive experience with exotic reptiles and amphibians from around the world.

The 2012 Canine Olympics Champ MAXX, Wauconda’s very own police dog, who will demonstrate his canine detective abilities with his trainer, Sgt. John Combs. Musical entertainment for the day will be provided by local talent, Terry Spizzirri.
