Guerin Prep senior to play Division 1 Football for Western Michigan

Guerin College Preparatory High School, 8001 W. Belmont Avenue, River Grove, congratulates senior Kristof Ifkovits, who signed his letter of intent to play Division 1 football with Western Michigan University. The defensive lineman also received a full 4-year scholarship based on his athletic performance and academics while at Guerin Prep.

Ifkovits made his commitment to be a Bronco official as part of National Signing Day, February 6, which is the first day that a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for NCAA college football. Ifkovits is the first Guerin Prep student to take part in this annual tradition.

“It's a special day for me. I'm excited to be able to play football at the Division 1 level. My coaches and teachers at Guerin Prep helped me achieve that dream,” said Ifkovits.

Ifkovits grew up playing a variety of team sports but found his true passion for football while playing for St. Francis Borgia Grade School in Chicago, which included two runs for the championship during his 7th and 8th grade years. He was named Guerin's Best Defensive Player, served as team captain this past season and was selected for the 2012 Suburban Christian All Conference team.
