Poll Vault: Would you stand by a jailed spouse?

For better or for worse? A prison sentence would certainly fall under the “for worse” category. Would you support a spouse accused or convicted of a crime?

The major suburban news story of the past two weeks has been the case of the three former Schaumburg police officers accused of shaking down drug dealers and trying to sell narcotics themselves.

As Barbara Vitello reported, the wife of one of the suspects is shocked by the allegations and is standing by him. But another suspect's wife has filed for divorce and doesn't want him to have contact with their children, as Josh Stockinger reported, though I suspect in this situation the additional allegation of infidelity was a factor.

What would you do if your spouse were in legal trouble? Would you stand by your husband or wife?

Even if you were certain of your spouse's guilt, would that matter? Or are some crimes simply unforgivable?
