Singers invited for 19th Palm Sunday Interfaith Concert

The 19th annual Dundee and Elgin Area Lenten Concert Series is comprised of eleven organ recitals throughout Lent and culminates at 2:45 PM, Palm Sunday, March 24, with an ecumenical choral concert and prayer service. This inspirational series was founded by Phyllis Lange Connelly, who sadly died in July. Her dream, however, lives on with capable leadership and talented musicians.

Rehearsals begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at the First Congregational Church West Dundee at the intersection of Route 31 and Angle Tarn. This year the concert will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at St. Catherine of Siena in West Dundee.

All singers are welcome! You do not need to be a member of a formal choir or ensemble. This is a great opportunity for those who cannot make a continued commitment to an ongoing music ministry. Last year, 700 people attended the concert.

The planning committee has chosen choral music that will be effective in supporting and enhancing our prayer and musical experience of Lent as we enter Holy Week.

There will be 8 regular rehearsals and a dress rehearsal the day of the program. Attend as many rehearsals as you can. The March 23 dress rehearsal at St Catherine of Siena is mandatory. Unless noted, rehearsals will be at the First Congregational Church.
