Coaches Launch Progressive Youth Football and Cheerleading Program

The North Jr. Knights Youth Football and cheerleading Program is a new non-profit club located in Grayslake, whose goal is to promote the progressive development of youth football and cheerleading in a safe and positive environment. The 2013 club season is slated to include Spring Flag Football, Spring 7-on-7 Football, Cheerleading Clinics, Fall Flag & Tackle Football, and Off-Season Conditioning Workshops.

Coaches will strive to teach the fundamentals and techniques necessary for student athletes to be successful at the high school level. The club will additionally strive to develop each participant's sense of self-esteem, community pride and competitive spirit by adhering to the values of the Knights Creed:

Knowledge: The Thirsting Desire to Learn

Nobility: Exalted in Character

Intensity: Great Concentration, Power and Focus

Gallantry: Courage in the Face of Battle

Humility: Quality of Being Humble

Team: Working Towards a Common Goal

Scholastics: Adhere to Scholarly Methods

The North Jr. Knights have assembled experienced and respected coaches from surrounding area programs. With over 100 years combined youth coaching experience, parents can be confident that their children will receive the highest quality instruction; all while having fun with their friends. All coaching staff members are required to attend annual coaching and safety clinics to assure athletes of the highest quality program.

In addition to football, The North Jr. Knights will also provide a quality cheerleading program for K-8 grade students. Participants will learn key fundamentals and gain understanding the sport of cheerleading in a safe and respectful environment. Participants will also gain a sense of team spirit, improved self-esteem, and a solid readiness for high school cheerleading squad tryouts.

An informational open house will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2013 from 7PM-8:30PM at the Round Lake Beach Cultural & Civic Center, located at 2007 Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach. Interested parents and prospective participants are encouraged to attend, as many of the club coaches will be in attendance. The event will be hosted by North Jr. Knights Board of Directors and Club Coaches.

To keep fees in line with surrounding community programs, certain costs for each participant will be supported through fundraising efforts via spirit wear, sponsors and concessions. As with comparable programs, registration for Fall Football and Cheer will include raffle tickets valued at $100 so parents may be able to defray some participation costs, if so desired. Updated program details can be found on the North Jr. Knights website: www.northjrknights.com.
