Joe Caputo & Sons Fruit Market Receives Rotary Award

By

Caputo’s is recognized for their “Service Above Self” which is the cornerstone that the organization, Rotary International is built on.

During the Thanksgiving season, the Lake in the Hills Women’s League works together with many local businesses, churches, schools, civic organizations and private individuals to provide families in Algonquin, Huntley and Lake in the Hills with a Thanksgiving feast. This past year, their 26th, they were able to include a turkey, cranberries and pie as well as fruit baskets, vegetables, pasta, cereal and other staples for help with later meals. A total of 290 families – 1,150 residents were able to be fed as a result.

Turkeys for the Thanksgiving basket project arrived a week before they were scheduled to be delivered to the families and there was no place to store them. Several local businesses were asked for help but only one did and did so without hesitation. Caputo’s received the Rotary Award for their willingness to open their doors and offer their resources, their support of this community project and their participation in the community they serve.
