Lake Zurich High School Varsity Cheerleaders Place 8th at IHSA State Competition

For the 8th consecutive year, the Lake Zurich High School Cheerleaders advanced to the IHSA State Cheerleading Championship, in Bloomington. Throughout the state, 292 teams competed in the IHSA State Series, in four divisions. The LZHS team competed against 86 teams, in the Large Varsity division.

The Bears advanced to the state preliminary round through the Rolling Meadows sectional, against 18 teams. 25 teams competed in the preliminary round. 10 teams advanced to the IHSA State Finals, with the Bears placing 8th overall.

This completes the Bears competitive season with First Place wins at the Jacobs Invite, The Wauconda Invite, and The North Suburban Conference Lakes Division competition; as well as a 6th place finish at the Grayslake North Invitational.

The team consists of 6 seniors, 3 juniors, 7 sophomores, and 7 freshman. Team members are: Sarah Blechschmidt, Erica Busse, Monica Carillo, Jenna Felix, Maggie Finn, Lexi Fye, Emily Hack, Chelsea Han, Briana Harris, Taylor Kuhn, Ashley Mangano, Rachel Methling, Catherine Miller, Maddie Roach, Megan Robin, Kristinna Schaar, Nina Skowyra, Johanna Snyders,Tori Szady, Mackenzie Till, Amanda Todavchick, Marissa Wayne, Megan Yerger. They are coached by Pam Bonnevier and Cassie Cleary

The LZHS CHeerleaders will be hosting a K-8 cheer clinic on Saturday, February 16th. for information, contact Head Coach, Pam Bonnevier at coachpam65@sbcglobal.net.
