Local rocker
St. Charles native Dan Tedesco will bring his driving, rootsy, folky brand of rock 'n' roll to Schuba's next week. He'll be playing songs from his latest record, "Tracks on Fire," and from throughout his career.
9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Schuba's Tavern, 3159 N. Southport Ave., Chicago. $12. Go to schubas.com.

Indie stalwarts
Yo La Tengo, the acclaimed rock trio that includes husband-and-wife team Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley along with James McNew, has been together in its current form since the early 1990s, but the band shows few signs of aging. Yo La Tengo's new album, "Fade," out just a few weeks ago, is yet another stellar collection of eclectic songs that push the boundaries of rock music, bringing in elements of electronic music, pop and soul. Though still largely unknown by mainstream listeners, Yo La Tengo has created some of the most creative rock of the past 20 years. The band arrives in the city for a show at the Vic. Highly recommended.
8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Vic Theatre, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago. $21.50. Go to jamusa.com.

A rock powerhouse
If you listened to pop or rock music in the 1980s, then you liked at least one Pat Benatar song. Benatar owned that decade, racking up hits and thrilling fans with raucous songs like "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and more pop-oriented fare like "Love is a Battlefield." Benatar and her powerhouse voice will perform next week in the suburbs with her husband and collaborator, Neil Giraldo.
8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. Tickets start at $59. Go to oshows.com.
