Campton U-17 competes in Disney tourney

The Campton United Soccer U-17 Boys team won their tournament bracket (2-0-1) to advance to the championship game of Disney’s College Showcase, held in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 27-30.

Teams from around the United States, as well as from U.S. Soccer Academies and National League teams, competed during this prestigious four-day event.

Campton beat FC Florida Parkland and Ohio’s Everest SC, and tied Pennsylvania Fusion SA ’95 boys to advance to the championship game against New York’s Manhattan PSG.

The championship match ended 0-0, resulting in Campton losing in penalty kicks. During the event, more than 50-plus college coaches were able to evaluate Campton United players.

Campton’s U-17 boys prepared for the Disney Showcase by finishing 3-0 at Shattuck St. Mary’s Showcase in Minnesota in December.

The Campton U-17 boys represent the towns of Hampshire, Huntley, Cary, Wheaton, St. Charles, Geneva, West Chicago and Kirkland.
