Music notes: Morrissey concert postponed

By Matt Arado

Morrissey cancellation
Morrissey concert dates scheduled for this upcoming weekend are postponed - but not cancelled -- due to a band member's illness. But if you've already purchased tickets for this Saturday's Chicago Theatre concert, stay tuned for information regarding the rescheduled playdate. If you are still holding tickets for the original concert date from October 27, 2012, those tickets will also be honored for the new date and will not need to be exchanged.

Country pop
Jo Dee Messina, a Grammy-nominated country-music star, will bring her string of hits ("Bye Bye," "Burn," "That's the Way") to the suburbs this weekend. Messina's music is highlighted by her warm twangy voice and her knack for writing pop melodies.
8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. Tickets start at $29. Go to oshows.com.

Memory lane ahead
Bob Abrams, guitarist and vocalist in the Buckinghams, and Mick Brock, former member of Herman's Hermits, will join forces this weekend on a musical love letter to the 1960s and 1970s. "Generation: The Sixties Experience" will feature Abrams, Brock and their band ripping through high-energy renditions of classic '60s-'70s pop songs.
8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Viper Alley, 275 Parkway Drive, Lincolnshire. Tickets start at $10. Go to viper-alley.com.
