Adventist Health mission team extends healing ministry to Honduras

More than 30 people representing the four hospitals of Adventist Midwest Health traveled to Honduras to provide medical care and assistance to hosts Hospital Adventista Valle de Angeles this week.

The hospital representatives from Adventist Bolingbrook, Adventist GlenOaks, Adventist Hinsdale and Adventist La Grange Memorial hospitals are spending Jan. 20-27 in Honduras.

While there, the team is providing medication, medical and dental treatment and donated items to the residents living near the Honduran hospital.

Established in 1974, Hospital Adventista Valle de Angeles (Valley of the Angels Hospital) is a 30-bed facility in the town of Valle de Angeles, about an hour from Honduras’ capital city, Tegucigalpa. The hospital has been one of the Global Partners of Adventist Health International since 2005.

Adventist Midwest Health takes part in an annual mission trip. Since 2006, hospital representatives have traveled to places such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana and Honduras, providing assistance to people in need.

“These mission trips provide much needed help to people and allow us to extend the healing ministry of Christ internationally,” said John Rapp, vice president of ministries and mission for Adventist Midwest Health. “None of that would be possible without the dedication and commitment of the people who volunteer to take this trip every year.”

Adventist Midwest Health public relations regional director Julie Busch is chronicling the group’s trip to Honduras online through a daily blog for family, friends and co-workers. Visit www.keepingyouwell.com to learn about of the team’s work.
