After a hiatus of several years, a community garden again will be open for business in Libertyville. Garden plots will be available on property owned by The Chapel, 1200 American Way. The fee will be $35 per plot, with $30 reimbursed to the church for water and site costs. A $25 deposit to be refunded at the end of the season also will be required. The village board on Tuesday agreed with the recommendation of its special projects committee to pursue a community garden to replace one that closed several years ago on Garfield Avenue. The Gardeners of Central Lake County will provide day-to-day management. A shed or protected area to store tools and implements may be added and gardening classes and other activities are being considered. Information will be included in an upcoming village newsletter at www.libertyville.com.
