Table tennis tourney coming to Naperville

Table tennis players from the Naperville area and beyond should grab their paddles and get ready to show off their best shots in the annual Naperville Table Tennis Tournament.

The tourney, co-sponsored by Naperville Park District and the Naperville Table Tennis Club, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at River Woods School, 2607 River Woods Drive.

The tournament is open to players of any age and experience level. Awards are given by coed age divisions for children, and for men and women in the “open” (age 18 and up) and “masters” (age 50 and up) divisions. In addition to involving many players from Naperville, the tournament typically draws players from the entire region.

Players can register for $8 through the park district at napervilleparks.org. On-site registration is $10 and begins at 8 a.m. for the adult divisions and at 11 a.m. for the youth divisions. Space is limited; any registration after the check-in time will be processed on a space-available basis only.

For those interested in table tennis beyond the tournament, the Naperville Table Tennis Club provides a weekly practice and game session. The club begins its season each year in October and runs through April, offering low-cost memberships or drop-in fees. For details, visit napervilletabletennisclub.com.
