They're a little bit operatic, with country, pop, comedy, and story-telling thrown in for good measure. The renowned 3 Redneck Tenors, headliners from Branson, Missouri, will perform at Monarch Landing in Naperville on February 5th at 7:30 p.m.
The 3 Redneck Tenors performance will launch Monarch Landing's 2013 Artist Series, a five-show program coordinated by the Entertainment Committee, that will run over the course of the year."Although the committee consistently brings in top-notch talent, in terms of their fame and popularity, this group is above and beyond what we're ordinarily able to book," said Sherry DeFillippo, Lifestyle Coordinator of Monarch Landing. "The 3 Redneck Tenors are very well known not only in Branson, but across the country. We are fortunate to be part of their rare cross-country tour. People have been known to travel to Branson to see them, but now, they only need to come as far as Naperville for this world-class talent."
The idea for the Artist Series came about from Marlin Reishus, co-chairman of the Entertainment Committee and Monarch Landing resident, who travels to Florida each winter. "He works with a church there, and would come back every year raving about the entertainment he'd seen," said Judy Torri who works with her husband John on the Entertainment Committee. "Eventually, he started talking to the talent in Florida to find out when they'd be in the Midwest. We decided we'd book them for our own shows."
Judy Torri said that each season of entertainment includes great variety. Last year the series included a Lyric Opera soprano, a comedian and a blue grass band. This year, the Artist Series will feature performances by Dave Bennett Quartet's performing a tribute to Benny Goodman, Pete Ellman's Big Band with Sandi Haynes, The New Reformation Jazz Band and the Legacy Girls.
Each Artist Series performance is open to the public. Tickets for 3 Red Neck Tenors will be available for purchase beginning on January 22 at $20/each and must be reserved in advance. "I enjoy having the professionals come here. These are people I'd typically have to get into the car and drive to see in downtown Chicago. Now I can just walk down the hall. That's very exciting," Judy Torri said. "On the other hand, I'm also probably seeing shows that I wouldn't otherwise get to see because I wouldn't bother to drive to their performances. I'm thrilled with the diversity of entertainers that we are able to offer the residents and the community as well. That's the fun part of it."
