Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center hosts activities, day trips

Become a member of the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center and enjoy discounts on our many “in house” programs and day trips. For more information or to register for trips and programs, stop by the Senior Center at 199 N. First Street or call 847-459-2670.

Join us for Lunch at Pavilion on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. Funds for this program are provided by an award from AgeOptions through the Illinois Department on Aging and the Federal Administration on Aging. Many times there is entertainment or a speaker following lunch. Reservations are required and there is a suggested donation of $4.00 per meal. Stop in or call the Senior Center at 847-459-2670.

Super Bowl Greats

Football fans unite around the television and enjoy a variety of foods. It's the biggest football game of the year. It's the Super Bowl! Tim Wilsey will be here today to talk about the Super Bowl greats from years past. Join us for this pre-Super Bowl event. This program will take place after our Lunch at Pavilion on Friday, February 1, 2013. If you will be joining us for lunch, please make your reservation by calling the Wheeling pavilion Senior Center at 847-459-2670.

Victory Center Trip

Join the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center for a tour and lunch at the Victory Center Retirement Community. This trip will take place on Tuesday, February 5, 2013. Scam Prevention Program

Dorann Swanson from the Village of Wheeling Police Department will discuss various scams and how to protect yourself from being a victim. This program will take place after our Lunch at Pavilion Program on Friday, February 8, 2013,at approximately 12:15 P.M. If you will be joining us for lunch, please make your reservation by calling the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center at 847-459-2670.

Mardi Gras Party

Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season. Celebrate Mardi Gras at the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center. We'll have a delicious lunch followed by a musical program featuring Dixieland music. This program will take place on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. The cost for this program is $12 for members and $27 for non-members. Reservations must be made by February 5, 2013. Harrah's Casino Trip

Join the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center as we journey to Harrah's Casino in Joliet, Illinois to try our luck. Enjoy exciting slots, table games and more! Please note: the cost of this trip DOES NOT include food. The cost of your meal depends on which restaurant you choose to eat in while at the Casino. This trip will take place on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Meet at the Senior Center (199 N. First Street, Wheeling) at 9:00 A.M. The cost of this trip is $13 for members and $28 for non-members. Tuesday Evening at Pavilion

The Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center will be open on Tuesday Evening, February 19, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. for games and conversations with friends. Please bring your own snacks, if desired. There is no charge for this event, but we ask that you call 847-459-260 to register so we know how many people will be attending this program.

Julius Caesar

“As politicos across the U.S. scramble to discredit and disrobe those in power, a familiar phrase comes to mind: “When in Rome…” Acclaimed British director Jonathan Munby brings Shakespeare's classic into the present tense-drawing current events into eerily sharp focus up against the poetry and supernatural mystery of the play. This timely production prompts the question: what happens when men feel they can no longer trust their elected leaders and when financial might dictates the rules of the game?” Please note: lunch is NOT included in the cost of this trip. This trip will take place on Sunday, M arch 10, 2013. Meet at the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center, 199 N. First Street, Wheeling at 11:45 A.M. the bus will leave at noon. Sunset Boulevard Theatre Trip

This Tony Award –winning stage production is a visually spectacular tale featuring breathtaking music by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Weber. It weaves a magnificent tale of faded glory and unfulfilled ambition. The cost of this trip includes your choice of stuffed chicken breast or baked salmon for lunch. Please select your lunch choice when registering for this program. This trip will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2013. Meet at the Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center, 199 N. First Street in Wheeling, at 10:15 A.M. The cost of this trip is $83 for members and $98 for non-members. Reserve your space by February 21, 2013.
