Lombard's first blood drive of 2013 nets 197 pints

LOMBARD, Illinois— The Village of Lombard's first community blood drive of 2013 is deemed a success with a total of 197 pints donated and 19 deferrals, according to Carol Bauer, Executive Coordinator to the Village Manager and organizer of the Village's blood drives.

“This is a fabulous turnout given that the flu season is in full force,” said Bauer. “These donations will help almost 600 people,” she added.

The Village holds its blood drives in cooperation with Heartland Blood Centers. Heartland recently announced its new donor rewards program, “Warm Hearts Club.” Donors receive points for blood donation, recruiting new donors and more. Registration is required and this program is replacing the former Four Seasons Club. For more information, visit www.heartlandbc.org.
