Ford dealer hosts Pack 36 Pinewood Derby

Submitted by Spring Hill Ford

Spring Hill Ford is hosting West Dundee’s Cub Scout Pack 36 for its annual Pinewood Derby for the third year in a row on Saturday, Jan. 19.

First held in 1953, the Pinewood Derby has become a valued Cub Scout tradition that teaches the ethics of hard work as Cub Scouts, ages 6 to 10, design, carve, paint, weigh, refine, and race their cars.

In addition, the Cub Scouts learn to share responsibility, develop teamwork, learn new skills, exercise creativity, learn about sportsmanship and make new friends.

The top four winners at this event will race their cars at a regional event in April.

“Everybody at Spring Hill Ford is thrilled to be a part of this,” says owner Randy Kalin.

Check-in is at the Spring Hill Ford Service Department and the races start at 9:30 a.m.

Family owned and operated, Spring Hill Ford has been servicing the Chicago area for more than 30 years. It is located at 800 S. Dundee Ave. (Route 25) in East Dundee. For details, call (847) 551-3300 or visit springhillford.com.
