Master yoga instructor leads class on back care

Going To My Happy Place Yoga studio will welcome Master yoga instructor Gabriel Halpern for a special event. Halpern is a nationally renowned yoga healer and teacher in the Iyengar tradition, including asanas and meditation. He will be coming out to Going To My Happy Place yoga studio to teach a special event class “Back Care Basics” for all levels from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18. Going To My Happy Place Yoga is at 316 Anderson Blvd., Geneva.

Early registration fee is $55 if registered by 5 p.m. Jan. 11; $60 thereafter. Space is limited, reserve your spot for this sought after healer of the yoga world.

Halpern holds a BA in Philosophy, an MA in Health Psychology, and was trained at the Iyengar Yoga Institutes in San Francisco and Pune, India, has practiced since 1970 and gives workshops nationally.

He is the founder and director of the Yoga Circle in Chicago, since 1985. For the past 25 years he has also been a core performance faculty member at De Paul University’s Theater Department. In 2011, he was awarded the Elder/Mentor of the Year by the Mankind Project. Owing to the direct influence of BKS Iyengar and over four decades of continuous study Gabriel’s teaching is all that is yoga: zeal in practice, science, art form, lifestyle, and mystical mentoring.
