Pulitzer Prize-winning author to speak in Arlington Heights

Metropolis Performing Arts Centre will host a lecture with author Jane Smiley, in conjunction with Arlington Heights Memorial Library, on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Smiley takes the stage at Metropolis Performing Arts Centre for the second in a series of author events generously funded by the Friends of the Library. Smiley is the author of the best-seller “A Thousand Acres,” a story based on William Shakespeare’s King Lear which received the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1992 and was adapted into a film in 1997. The interview-style presentation will be followed by questions from the audience and a book sale and signing.

From Page to Stage: A Conversation with Jane Smiley will be at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29, at Metropolis, 111 W. Campbell St., in Arlington Heights. Tickets are free and can be reserved by calling the library at (847) 392-0100, visiting the library Reception Desk, located at 500 N. Dunton Ave., Arlington Heights, or online at ahml.info.
