Ex-bodyguard sues Justin Bieber for assault, wages
LOS ANGELES — A former bodyguard for Justin Bieber is suing the pop superstar claiming he is owed more than $420,000 in unpaid overtime and that he was fired after Bieber repeatedly hit him in the chest.
Moshe Benabou filed the lawsuit Thursday in Los Angeles claiming that Bieber failed to properly pay him overtime. He is also suing for assault and battery for an October incident in which he claims the singer berated him and then punched him in the chest.
Benabou claims he simply walked away but was promptly fired. The former bodyguard worked for the Grammy-nominated singer between March 2011 and October 2012.
An email message sent to Bieber’s publicist was not immediately returned.
Benabou claims he was mistakenly told he wasn’t eligible to collect overtime.
