United Airlines plane lands safely after emergency landing

By Lee Filas

A United Airlines plane made a quick landing at O'Hare International Airport Monday morning after reports of smoke in the cockpit were sent to airline emergency crews.

Karen Pride, director of media relations for the Chicago Department of Aviation, said the plane sent in a standby alert to officials at 6:29 a.m. that smoke was showing in the cockpit of Flight 3838.

The plane, which is owned by United Airlines, landed safely at 6:47 a.m.

Emergency crews descended on the plane, but it's unknown at this time if there were any injuries.

Additional details would be released later, she said.
