Advocate Lutheran General hires Polish patient advocate

To better meet the health needs of patients served at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Malgorzata Cieslak has been hired as Polish patient navigator. Cieslak will provide education to hospital associates regarding the cultural sensitivities of Polish patients, will identify and address the health needs of the Polish community in partnership with community organizations, and will provide guidance and support for Polish women needing assistance after receiving a diagnosis of breast cancer. Cieslak is a certified alcohol and drug counselor who received her masters of social work in Kielce, Poland. She was director of clinical services for the Polish American Association and cofounded Together-Cancer Survivors network, which supports Polish-speaking individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer.
