Five plead guilty to mob attack at restaurant

By

Five Indiana men were sentenced to between three years and six years in prison after pleading guilty to charges in connection with an attack on a group of diners at a Southwest suburban restaurant.

The attorneys for the men -- Alex Stuck, 22, John Tucker, 26, and brothers Jason Sutherlin, 33, Cody Sutherlin, 24, and Dylan Sutherlin, 20 -- told the SouthtownStar on Friday the defendants pleaded guilty because they wanted to put the case behind them. The men faced armed violence, mob action and aggravated battery charges in the May 19 attack.

Prosecutors said the men were wearing masks and hoods when they stormed into a restaurant in Tinley Park on May 19. Authorities say they attacked people allegedly tied to white supremacist groups.

According to a defense attorney James Fennerty, prosecutors planned to push for the maximum seven-year sentence for all five men if they went to trial.
