Recovered from your New Year's Eve activities yet? This is typically a slow time of year for live music and album releases, but a few things of note are on the horizon.

Start struttin'
If you're a fan of the 1970s, chances are you like the Bee Gees. The British band was a keystone of the disco era, delivering funky dance-floor anthems highlighted by the delicious falsetto vocal harmonies of Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. You can relive those songs and those polyester days at "Stayin' Alive: A Tribute to the Bee Gees," a tribute show that will strut into the suburbs this weekend.
8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell St., Arlington Heights. Tickets start at $35. Go to metropolisarts.com.

Hit the dance floor
Midwestern party group Wedding Banned delivers rousing, infectious covers of classic '80s and '90s tunes in classic wedding-reception form. Check them out if you need a post-New Year's lift.
10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine. $7. Go to durtynellies.com.

To come in 2013
It's time to take a look at the new albums that 2013 will bring. Here, according to Amazon.com and other sources, is a list of some of the anticipated releases for the new year:

• New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi are expected to release their new album, "What About Now," in early 2013.

• Eminem has hinted that he will release a new album this year. It would be the follow-up to his acclaimed 2010 "comeback" album, "Recovery."

• Lady Gaga is preparing a new album titled "ARTPOP" for the spring.

• 50 Cent has his fifth studio album ready for release on Feb. 26.
