Audubon members share tales Jan. 7

In a departure from its regular format, the Lake County Audubon Society will feature multiple speakers at its meeting from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at the Libertyville village hall, 118 W. Cook Ave.

Several members will tell true stories related to different aspects of nature. Pictures will accompany some of the accounts. Speakers and topics will be: Walter Sivertsen, a bluebird story; Jim Schuler, the amateur’s guide to attracting flying squirrels to your back yard; Sonja Velins, dormant paper wasp feast; Nan and Ron Wick, an adventure in the Everglades; Pat Barthel, highflying burrowing owl at Great Lakes Naval Base; and, Deb Myers, overview of forest preserve restoration plans.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Children are welcome. Bird houses will be available for sale. Call Chris Geiselhart at (847) 362-5134 for more information.
