St. Charles East reaches consolation title game
St. Charles East 52, Waubonsie Valley 27: The Saints advanced to the consolation championship of the Wheaton North Falcon Classic and improved their record to 9-7 with the 25-point win Friday.
Carly Pottle and Amanda Hilton both scored 10 points for the Saints who will play Downers Grove North at 3 p.m. Saturday.
West Aurora 81, Elgin 21: The Blackhawks (7-8) won for the first time in three tries at the Wheaton North Falcon Classic behind solid play from Abriya Zeitz with 17 points and 9 rebounds, Alexis Wiggins with 5 assists and 12 points by Elizabeth Skaggs.
Romeoville 67, Batavia 53: Romeoville seized control at the Montini Christmas Tournament with an 8-0 run to open the second half, then pulled away with a 21-8 fourth quarter outburst.
Batavia (11-7) erased an early 18-9 deficit and moved in front 29-23 at halftime behind hot 3-point shooting from Miranda Grizaffi, Liza Fruendt and Sami Villarreal.
The Lady Bulldogs face Zion Benton at 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the seventh-place game.
Buffalo Grove 68, St. Charles North 53: At the Charger Classic at Dundee-Crown Friday, the North Stars (4-12) fell behind 17-12 after the first quarter and 31-24 at halftime.
Alex Silverman had a huge game for the North Stars, scoring 23 points including six 3-point baskets. Sam Novak added 9 and Morgan Rosencrants 8.
Aurora Christian 49, Dixon 38: The Eagles (9-6) beat host Dixon at the Dixon Christmas Tournament on Friday. Alyssa Andersen led the way with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals, Alex Hultine had 12 points, Melissa Moser 8 points and 5 rebounds and Natasha Brown 7 points and 14 rebounds.
Aurora Central Catholic 39, Lemont 33: Lisa Rodriguez and Alex DeCraene led the Chargers (7-6) with 9 and 8 points, respectively, at the Oswego East Holiday Tournament.
The Chargers advance to the fifth-place game Saturday against East Aurora.
