Alexandra Gall wins local School National Geography Bee

Alexandra Gall wins the Faith Lutheran School National Geography Bee and moves one step closer to the $25,000 college scholarship.

Gall, an eighth grade student at Faith Lutheran School won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee Dec. 13 and a chance at $25,000 college scholarship. The school-level Bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 25th annual National Geographic Bee. This year’s Bee is sponsored by Google.

The kickoff for this year’s Bee was the week of November 12, with thousands of schools around the United State and in the five U.S. territories participating. The school winners, including Alexandra Gall, will now take a written test; up to 100 of the top scorers on that test in each state will then be eligible to compete in their state’s Bee Friday, April 5.

Faith Lutheran School is at 1275 Main St., in Antioch. The school provides a full day preschool through eighth grade Christian education to its students and is open to all families. For information, www.faithantioch.org.
