• Rashida Thompson, 26, of the 100 block of Austin Avenue in Carpentersville, faces several charges Thursday after police said she roughed up an officer. According to reports, Thompson kicked the male officer in the groin, punched, pushed and shoved him to avoid her arrest on a domestic battery and pulled the victim away from the officer. Thompson was charged with felony aggravated battery, misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a police officer and two misdemeanor counts of battery. Her bail was set Friday morning at $10,000 and she is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 4.
• Algonquin police rounded up several people Wednesday and Thursday as part of a sting the department held to crack down on the illegal sale of alcohol to minors. According to a police report, the following people were charged with two counts of unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor and are due in local court Jan. 30: Cheryl L. Recchia, 48, of the 2800 block of Briarcliff Lane in Lake in the Hills; Amee A. Hobday, 33, of the 100 block of Prairie Street in Crystal Lake; Stephanie M. Guay, 28, of the 9700 block of Main Street in Algonquin; Teresa Wesolowski, 54, of the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive in Algonquin; and Julia M. Witt, 49, of the 4900 block of Princeton Lane in Lake in the Hills.
• Three teenage boys from Algonquin were each charged with retail theft on Wednesday, police said. They were arrested near the 1400 block of Merchant Drive and were all referred to the Tri County Area Peer Jury and later released to their parents. Police said the boys are 15, 16 and 17.
