Man convicted of stabbing, disfiguring girlfriend
BELLEVILLE — A southwestern Illinois man faces up to 14 years in prison after being convicted of using a knife to stab and permanently disfigure his girlfriend.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that a St. Clair County jury deliberated less than a half-hour Tuesday before finding 60-year-old Robert Hoskins of East St. Louis guilty of two counts of aggravated domestic battery.
Authorities say Hoskins used a knife to cut his girlfriend’s face and neck before stabbing her in the chest in February of last year.
The trial was Hoskins’ second in the case. A mistrial was declared in February after a jury failed to reach a verdict.
Hoskins’ sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 11. He is not eligible for probation because of his criminal background.
