CLEVELAND, Ohio — Brett Sterling scored twice and Andrew Ebbett notched 3 points as the Chicago Wolves beat the Lake Erie Monsters 3-2 at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.
Goaltender Matt Climie (5-7-0) stopped 30 shots for the Wolves (12-9-2-1), who ran their winning streak to three games.
With the Wolves trailing 1-0 after allowing a goal just 1:26 into the game, Ebbett knotted the score when he took a pass from Mark Matheson and beat Monsters goalie Calvin Pickard at 10:05 of the first period. Chris Tanev also earned an assist.
Minutes later on the power play, the Wolves pulled ahead 2-1 when Sterling scored at 13:05 on assists from Zack Kassian and Ebbett. It was the Wolves’ third straight game featuring a goal with the man advantage.
At 2:34 of the second period, the Wolves made it 3-1 when Sterling netted his second goal on assists from Kassian and Ebbett. The Monsters scored at 12:24 of the second, but Climie and the Wolves blanked the Monsters the rest of the way.
