This was one of the bridges that Algonquin Trustee Jim Steigert preferred over the more traditional bridge that was ultimately selected. It's a bowstring concept bridge with a flashy precast "X" design on the ground, one he said could have attracted worldwide attention.

Algonquin officials opted for traditional over edgy when it came to choosing a design for a $3.1 million pedestrian bridge that will one day cross Randall Road. Tuesday night, during a committee of the whole meeting, all of the board members selected a bowstring bridge with brick pillars that would blend into the surrounding landscape.
