Once again the St. Charles school board is tossing around money like they have unlimited funds. We will be footing the annual cost of the superintendent’s premiums for his term life insurance twice what his base salary is — $225,000.
We also will pay for contributions to his pension and health insurance; 100 percent of his family’s health benefits. We also will be paying for his cellphone, also added benefit when he retires he can choose to defer compensation or authorize a salary reduction for the purchase of annuities. We the taxpayers will also fund a $15,000 contribution to a tax sheltered annuity for him.
On top of all this he will get a 6-percent annual retirement incentive in the form of a tax sheltered annuity policy or custodial account. We the taxpayers will also be giving him a $7,200 car allowance, travel reimbursement for his school duties.
I probably missed more of the school board gifts. I know there are a lot of people out there that would love this package. Who wouldn’t?
The school board from their latest action is not seeing what everyone else is seeing when people get their property tax bills or the people that have no jobs trying to keep their house, pay their bills, buy food for their family, pay for their child or children’s education.
I would like to know how they justify this latest reckless action. So look no further. Ink another contract with Don Schlomann. The school board has unlimited funds; just write a check and we will give this man anything he wants and then some.
Thank you, school board, for once again digging into our pockets.
