Creative Corners Preschool Raises $197 for Operation North Pole

The Des Plaines Park District’s Terrific 3’s Creative Corners Preschool class partnered with Dr. Thomas Meyer, DDS of Meyer Dental in Des Plaines, for a second year in a Candy Buy Back Program. The children collected 58 pounds of candy and $39 between October 31 and November 7. Dr. Meyer matched the monetary contribution dollar for dollar, and paid one dollar per pound for the candy. He will ship the candy to United States troops deployed overseas. The Terrific 3’s Preschool class donated the $194 to Operation North Pole. Operation North Pole is an all volunteer, community-based, charity whose mission is to provide a day of fun during the holiday season for Chicago area families who are battling the stress of dealing with a life threatening or terminal illness of one or more of their children. “This is a wonderful learning experience for the children,” said Kelly Roback, Creative Corners Terrific 3’s Preschool Director. “We are teaching the children that you can be generous at a young age. The Candy Buy Back program is a way for the children to learn to help members of our community by sharing what they have,” she said. “You are never to young to get involved,” said Karyn Roth, Recreation Supervisor. During December, the Creative Corners Preschool will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots Program. The community is invited to stop by the Leisure Center at 2222 Birch Street, to drop off a toy. For more information, call Karyn Roth at 847-391-5700.
