Des Plaines history book release party

A release party for a pictorial history book with more than 200 vintage images of Des Plaines is scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St.
The book is the latest in the "Images of America" paperback series published by Arcadia Publishing, compiled by author David Whittingham, a library readers' adviser, in collaboration with the Des Plaines History Center.

Whittingham will autograph copies of the book and give a brief talk at the reception. The book is available for purchase for $21.99 through the History Center gift shop, local Walgreens stores, area book stores and online at amazon.com.
