Barrington police to offer senior car safety check

Winter driving can sometimes be challenging for seniors — so it’s important that their cars can handle the rigors of the road.

To ensure that those cars are safe for wintry weather, the Barrington Police Department will sponsor a senior car safety check from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Barrington Public Safety Building, 400 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington.

Mechanics from Marquardt of Barrington will conduct a 21-point inspection to check for basic safety and maintenance issues. The service is free, and no appointments are necessary; each inspection should last about 15 minutes. Participants will receive a written report that they can take to the mechanic who maintains their car.
